Privacy Policy

Personal data and e-mail addresses (which may in some cases constitute personal data) will be used only to publish the journal “Książnica Śląska” and communication with authors and readers.

Personal data protection

Concerning the protection of personal data, in implementing the information obligation set out in Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals concerning the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, we inform that:

  1. The administrator of your data (the Data Administrator) is the Silesian Library in Katowice (pl. Rady Europy 1, 40–021 Katowice), tel. (+48) 32 20 83 875, e-mail: bsl@bs.katowice.pl.
  2. Your personal data will be processed in connection with the publication of papers in the journal “Książnica Śląska”, the implementation of the publishing process and communication with authors and readers. Personal data will be processed on the basis of:
    • Article 6, Section 1(b) of GDPR: to conclude and perform a contract related to the publication,
    • Article 6, Section 1(c) of GDPR: to comply with the legal obligation, in particular Article 4, section 2 of the Act of 27 June 1997 on libraries (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland of 2019, item 1479, as amended) and Article 1,  section 1 of the Act of 25 October 1991 on organizing and conducting cultural activities (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland, of 2020, item 194, as amended),
    • Article 6, Section 1(a) of GDPR (voluntary consent): to communicate with authors and readers. By providing your contact details (e.g. e-mail, telephone number), you consent to the processing of your personal data for contact purposes. The above consent means that it has been expressed voluntarily, specifically, and consciously and constitutes an unequivocal demonstration of your will.
  3. Providing data is voluntary, but necessary to achieve the above-mentioned purposes. If the data is not provided, the mentioned purposes cannot be realized.
  4. Your data is not subject to automated decision-making, including profiling. They are made available to entities providing programming and IT services, on the basis of entrustment agreements. The data may also be made available to other entities processing personal data at the request of the Administrator, i.e. entities involved in the publishing process (including authors, reviewers, translators, graphic designers, editors, photographers, and subjects providing printing and distribution services). The data may also be made available to institutions authorized by law.
  5. You have the right to access the content of personal data and the right to rectify, delete and limit processing, the right to transfer data, the right to object to the processing, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the processing that has been effected based on your consent before its withdrawal.   6. You have the right to complain to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
  7. Personal data, whose legal basis for processing is Article 6, section 1a of the GDPR, will be processed by the Silesian Library until the consent is withdrawn. The remaining documentation containing personal data will be stored for the archiving period following the legal acts and the office instruction in force at the Silesian Library.

    These are virtual thematic collections presenting selected stationary exhibitions or presenting library collections, including documents and objects. The collections are constantly supplemented with presentations, multimedia shows and photocasts.
