Current Journals Reading Room

The Current Journals Reading Room is closed during the epidemic!

The Reading Room provides free access to over 1200 current titles of both Polish and foreign scientific journals, popular science magazines and newspapers, as well as to about 2100 titles in a handy storeroom of the Reading Room, obtained through legal deposit and Polish and foreign subscriptions.

Access is also provided to archived journals held in storage, microfilm copies of national periodicals, and other types of library documents, except special collections materials. Collections in the Integra electronic catalogue are ordered electronically, and other publications can be obtained after filling in the paper call slip.

The reading room contains computer stations where you can use the Internet, browse electronic journals and databases available on the library network.

A collection of posters is stored, developed and made available in the Poster Studio, located in the reading room. The collection includes approximately 8000 Polish propaganda, social, commemorative, circus, theatre and other posters. The oldest of these dates back to the late 1940s. This resource is gradually being digitalized and made available in the internal Silesian Digital Library (Cultural Heritage collection). The reference library, available on site, includes studies on poster art and visual communication issues in books and magazines.

Location symbol in the Integra electronic catalogue: CC

Readers have workstations with microfilm readers and computer workstations at their disposal.

A self-service photocopier is available in the reading room for making A4 and A3 black-and-white or colour prints.
