About

“Książnica Śląska” is a scholarly journal with a comprehensive humanistic profile. It has been published irregularly since 1983 and since 2020 regularly as a yearly journal. Książnica is a continuation of „Biuletyn Informacyjny Biblioteki Śląskiej” distributed in the years 1956-1976.

We publish dissertations and materials in the field of bibliology and library science, but also literary studies, theatre studies, and the history of Upper Silesia and the Cieszyn region. There is, moreover, a particular space in the journal for Eastern Borderlands themes, because of the unique collections received by our Library after the second world war. The published materials include source studies prepared based on the collections of the Silesian Library.

The journal contains articles, reviews, and reports from scholarly conferences, exhibitions, and conducted projects.

In 2020, the advisory board and the current editorial board were established. And the graphic form of the publication, as well as its size, changed. The editorial board intends to establish an open and interdisciplinary journal covering not only the field of librarianship and library science but also engaging in the broadly understood humanities.

Since 2020, the referential form of the journal has been the electronic version and the printed version has been limited to the minimum necessary.
